A seven foot sturgeon is the MK Nature Center’s newest resident. The sturgeon was brought from Hagerman Fish Hatchery, where it has been living in a hatchery raceway for 10 years for visitors to see.

Hatchery staff felt the sturgeon was outgrowing its surroundings, so they contacted MK to see if the sturgeon could live here.

In the photo, the Center’s Susan Ziebarth helps the sturgeon out of the unique transport stretcher. The sturgeon rode 10 miles on the back of a flatbed truck in a bathtub-like tank with a bubbler to get here. We think he is glad to be "home."
