Description: In early summer, look for Sage Thrasher and Vesper Sparrow in sage/grass flats, and listen for Brewer’s Sparrow. Look for Sharp-tailed Grouse (March to April), Ashthroated Flycatcher, and Scott’s Oriole (juniper habitat). Nesters include Ferruginous Hawk, Common Poorwill, Gray Flycatcher, Pinyon and Western Scrub-Jays, Juniper Titmouse, Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher, Mountain Bluebird, and Loggerhead Shrike. Look for Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, Canvasback, and Lesser Scaup near Stone Reservoir. Fall brings Canada and Snow Geese. Wintering birds include Killdeer, Marsh Wren, and Song Sparrows.
