The Compass

The Compass! This is Idaho Department of Fish and Game's strategic plan, which will guide the department for the next fifteen years. The Idaho Fish and Game Commission unanimously approved the plan on January 20, 2005.
Although the document itself is short, it is the product of a long process that involved hundreds of Idaho citizens. We wrote The Compass based on input from you and others through focus groups, a scientific survey, public workshops, and personal conversations, as well as our staff's scientific knowledge about Idaho's fish and wildlife.
We believe The Compass provides a clear direction on how we will manage the fish and wildlife in Idaho as best we can to benefit those who own the wildlife - you. Therefore, we encourage your participation with the Department in managing Idaho's fish and wildlife.
The Compass is also available in separate sections listed below, which are smaller in file size and easier to download:

The 'direction documents' are an annual step-down of the The Compass.
They are designed primarily to articulate each year's priorities to Department staff before annual work planning takes place, and they also show Idaho citizens how the Department is making progress towards The Compass' goals.

Printed copies of The Compass are available at all
Fish and Game Offices (call or walk-in) or by sending a request from the Contact Us page.
